Christianity [ breeds ] Humility

Here's a thought: Of all the religious people in the world, Christians should be the most humble because we know that our Salvation does not come from our own works (like most other faiths) but instead by the work of Jesus Christ on our behalf. | Ephesians 2:8-9

Here's a question: If the above statement is true then why does there seem to be a disconnect between Christianity and humility?
